The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He reviews and tests cleaning appliances, focusing on mopping and robot vacuum combos. These multitaskers can be ideal for those looking to eliminate mopping from their to-do lists. Some models have superior navigation and obstacle avoidance. Some wash and refill mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
best budget robot vacuum
If you're looking for a robot vacuum that can also mop, this is the model to look for. It's smaller than other models on this list, which makes it easier to maneuver into tight corners and underneath furniture. It has a 220-degree lidar which, when paired with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the most effective navigation and object avoidance that I've ever seen in a robot vacuum. It comes with a massive 4600mAh battery which lasts up to 170-minutes, if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can run longer in turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery during the cleaning.
It's quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen, and hallways with just one pass. Its 8,000pa suction motor makes short work of picking up sand, dirt, and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help pull out debris from corners.
The mopping performance, while still impressive, is not as impressive. The rotating mop spins at a high velocity and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly cleaning up dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arms protrude out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. The front arms can be used to clean up larger debris, like broken toys or books.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've used. It is quieter and doesn't make as much noise when mopping or vacuuming. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform its mopping function and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's easy to install and works well however this is something you'll need to keep an eye on in case you're purchasing this vacuum solely for the reason of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums that mop in its class. It comes with a wide array of features that make it a great choice for homeowners looking to purchase a highly effective, versatile, and customizable cleaning machine.
The device is equipped with an impressive and powerful cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map your home and detect furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and effectively. This leads to an efficient, consistent clean that is also quite fast.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad is capable of reaching many surfaces. This includes corners and baseboards as well as other hard-to-reach spots. The side brush can be stretched out to reach the floor close to the walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are washable and can be dried to remove odors and prevent buildup.
Another noteworthy feature is the customizable options available via apps. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the amount of suction and choose between a back-andforth or more random pattern. You can also adjust the number of passes it will make, which will affect how quickly the device can traverse your home. You can also deactivate the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rug.
The device has a expensive price tag, but it is packed with a wide array of smart features. However, it's important to note that it incurs regular expenses in the form of mopping supplies and maintenance. For example, the brushroll will need to be replaced after 300 hours or every six to twelve months. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad must be replaced every one to three months.
The robot vacuum mop has a high Amazon rating and includes a wide range of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also has an energy button that doubles as a 'Clean' button' and a Home button to send it back home after cleaning. It also comes with a multi-functional dock that automatically empty the dustbin and refills its water tank to mop and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a busy professional or someone who wants to have a clean home without spending hours doing chores The Shark Matrix Plus is a excellent option. Its incredibly fast performance, sophisticated navigation, and long battery life allow you to maintain a clean home with little effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is an all-in-one mop and vacuum. It can do both vacuuming as well as mopping. The robot comes with two modules: a combined dry bin and reservoir of water, and a separate mopping unit with a microfiber pad that snaps into and out of position. It's a little old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping but it does mean you don't have to worry about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.
Our test participants discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best feature is its precise floorplan map, which it uses when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate effortlessly around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also offers the option of setting "No-Go zones" as well as virtual barriers, which help to protect specific areas of your home from being swept with mop.
We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well at picking up hair from pets. It was able to collect many of the hair shed by our cats, and even made it into the nooks and crannies on our stairs where other robots struggled. The noise levels were low, and there were some nice jingles to let you know that it was in the process of finishing its work.
The biggest flaws were its simple app and the requirement to change out the modules when switching between mopping and vacuuming. The app can't store multiple maps. This can be an issue if your home has several floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a great choice for those who want a smart device that can vacuum and mop.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. However, it has some unique features which make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni is notable for its enormous dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin and the 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.
The base also has a variety of buttons to control the system. These let you manually start a cleaning job, recall the robot, or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to switch on a child lock that is a great feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums, the Omni Omni uses its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than standard laser detection systems and is four times more precise in recognising objects.
Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni can sometimes get so entangled with obstacles, like an electrical cord dangling across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you free it. This was a rare occurrence however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert on its app.
The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad apart from the fact that the mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between uses and can cause mildew or mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a big departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing sight in a space that is dominated by clunky boxes and clunky models.
